February's Blazing Streak! Qualifying Rounds Always Break Through, Main Draw Always Wins, Yao Xinxin Writing a Tennis Legend

As is well known, tennis tournaments always have qualifying rounds. Objectively speaking, breaking through in the qualifying rounds is not easy. However, in February, there was such a Chinese female tennis player who not only successfully broke through in all four challenger tournament qualifiers, but also secured victories in the main draws. So, who exactly is this Chinese female tennis player? And in which qualifying rounds did she break through? Today, let this article take you to find out.

This Chinese female tennis player is Yao Xinxin. In mid-June 2023, she achieved a five-match winning streak at the Tianjin Futures tournament, winning her first career Futures title. In January 2025, Yao Xinxin won her first career Challenger title at the Nonthaburi Challenger. That year, her world ranking climbed to No. 205, the highest ranking she had achieved since entering professional tennis.

However, due to suffering a seven-match losing streak at the end of the 2025 season, losing championship points at the start of the 2026 season, and only securing one win in January, such results caused Yao Xinxin's world ranking to fall beyond 550.

Facing this predicament, Yao Xinxin traveled to France early in February to compete in the Andrezieux-Bouthéon Challenger qualifiers. In the qualifying rounds, she successively defeated French players H Crinebouch, O Lancelot, and others, smoothly advancing to the main draw.

After breaking through the qualifiers, Yao Xinxin first won in the main draw first round with two 6-4 sets against Spanish player Garcia-Perez. Then, through a three-set battle, she upset the tournament's sixth seed, French player Belgrave. Although she lost in the quarterfinals to her longtime compatriot rival Li Zongyu, Yao Xinxin regained her long-lost confidence.

After finishing her journey at the Andrezieux-Bouthéon Challenger, Yao Xinxin successively swept past French player M Villet and Polish player W Ewald in the Grenoble Challenger qualifiers, marking her second breakthrough from Challenger qualifiers in February.

In the main draw first round, Yao Xinxin fought hard through three sets to defeat the tournament's seventh seed, American player Ackley, marking her second victory over a seeded player in a Challenger in February. In the second round, she defeated Italian player Urgesi, who also broke through from the qualifiers, making her second entry into a Challenger quarterfinal in the 2026 season.

Two entries into Challenger quarterfinals helped improve Yao Xinxin's world ranking. In mid-February, she received a bye in the first round of the Macon Challenger qualifiers. In the qualifying final round, Yao Xinxin allowed French player M Bougrat only three games. Already familiar with Challenger qualifiers, she advanced to the main draw for the third time this month.

In the main draw first round, she swept past a Brazilian player. In the second round, Yao Xinxin, after losing the first set, rallied to win the next two sets, reversing the match against the tournament's top seed, Dutch player Rus. This was Yao Xinxin's first victory over a player within the TOP150 in the 2026 season. At the end of February, she continued her efforts, defeating Slovak player T Sramkova and British player V Allen in the Trnava Challenger qualifiers to enter the main draw. In the main draw first round, Yao Xinxin comprehensively defeated Slovak player D Pirohova to advance.

Throughout February, Yao Xinxin maintained a near-perfect record, boosting her world ranking by over a hundred places, returning from the低谷 to public view. From falling to the低谷 to February's blazing streak, Yao Xinxin proved with each victory: true passion is always about falling and rising again. We look forward to her maintaining this form and achieving more successes! That's today's tennis story, continuing tomorrow.(Source: Tennis Home Author: Yixin居士)
