There have been some surprises, but most of the top players have made their way into this year's Indian Wells quarterfinals.
The prestigious ATP 1000/WTA 1000 tournament - Indian Wells 2026 has passed the halfway mark. After thrilling and dramatic matches, the 16 best players competing in the men's and women's singles quarterfinals of the tournament have been determined.
In the men's singles, the defending champion Jack Draper has excellently secured a spot in the quarterfinals after overcoming his biggest challenge since the start of the tournament - Novak Djokovic. Draper unexpectedly lost a break-point in the decisive service game of the first set and allowed Djokovic to take the lead, but then delivered a strong response with extremely high-quality serves and forehands.
As the match progressed, Nole's stamina wore down, and the British player capitalized on this very well to complete the comeback.
Draper's opponent in the round of the top 8 players is Daniil Medvedev, who easily defeated the American representative - Alex Michelsen in just two sets.
Meanwhile, the reigning world number 1 - Carlos Alcaraz also had little difficulty defeating Casper Ruud. Carlitos will face the 2021 Indian Wells champion - Cameron Norrie in the quarterfinals.
Jannik Sinner - who has no points to defend in California this year - will face Learner Tien. Earlier, in the round of 16, Sinner subdued young star Joao Fonseca after two tie-break series, while Tien created a surprise against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The remaining quarterfinal pair will be the match between Alexander Zverev and Arthur Fils.
In the women's singles, the reigning world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka is still demonstrating unmatched strength at this year's Indian Wells, with her latest victim being former Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka. The Belarusian player will create one of the most exciting quarterfinal matches when she faces the "Black Diamond" Victoria Mboko.
Another matchup that promises to be very exciting is the match between Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina - the reigning Australian Open champion. The world number 2 player Iga Swiatek faces Elina Svitolina, while the phenomenon Talia Gibson clashes with Linda Noskova.
The Indian Wells 2026 quarterfinal matches will take place from early morning on March 13, Vietnam time.
