On Monday evening, Sinner made history in Miami by breaking a tournament record since the ATP 1000 Masters series began in 1990—the streak of consecutive winning sets. Sinner defeated Moutet 6-1 6-4 in the Miami Open third round, achieving 26 consecutive winning sets in ATP 1000 Masters events, surpassing Djokovic's previous record of 24 sets set in 2016.

The Italian player has won the last two ATP 1000 Masters tournaments without losing a single set: the Paris Masters last autumn (10 wins, 0 losses) and the Indian Wells Masters last week (12 wins, 0 losses). Two days ago, he tied Djokovic's previous record by defeating Dzumhur 6-3 6-3 in his first match in Miami. Now, he tops this list.
ATP 1000 Masters longest consecutive winning sets list (since 1990):
26 sets: Sinner (from 2025 Paris Masters to present)
24 sets: Djokovic (from 2016 Indian Wells Masters to 2016 Monte Carlo Masters)
21 sets: Alcaraz (from 2023 Indian Wells Masters to 2023 Miami Masters)
19 sets: Djokovic (from 2014 Paris Masters to 2015 Indian Wells Masters)
18 sets: Murray (from 2016 Rome Masters to 2016 Cincinnati Masters)
18 sets: Sinner (from 2024 Shanghai Masters to 2025 Rome Masters)
(Note: A loss due to opponent's retirement ends the winning streak.)

Moutet had previously troubled Sinner in their only prior meeting: two years ago in the French Open fourth round, Moutet won the first set, then Sinner reversed the match 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-1 to win in four sets. In this match, Sinner started strongly, winning five consecutive games after 1-1, taking the first set in just 26 minutes.
Moutet fought more fiercely in the second set, being broken only once at 2-2. He nearly saved that game, recovering from a 0-40 deficit, but ultimately lost his serve after four deuces. However, Sinner secured a crucial break to lead 3-2, and 15 minutes later, the Italian successfully held serve to win the match, ending the final point with a powerful wide serve followed by a forehand volley winner.
This victory took 1 hour and 11 minutes, improving Sinner's ATP head-to-head record against Moutet to 2-0, while extending his unbeaten streak against left-handed players to 21 matches.

After the match, the world No. 2 commented on this new record: "I am very happy, but at the same time, I play tennis not for this record. Anything can happen; this sport is full of uncertainty, so we try to stay highly focused and see what the next round brings."
"I am satisfied with today's performance. We are constantly working to improve, and now we will try to rest well, hoping to prepare for tomorrow's match."

Sinner's winning streak began at last November's Paris Masters, where he won the title without dropping a set. He maintained this form into March this year, achieving another title without losing a set at the BNP Paribas Open. With two wins in Miami, Sinner has now achieved 13 consecutive wins in Masters events.
On Tuesday, second seed Sinner will face American player Michelsen in the fourth round. Michelsen earlier defeated Chilean player Tabilo 3-6 6-3 6-4 in a non-seed matchup. Sinner has won both previous encounters, both in 2024: Cincinnati Masters (6-4 7-5) and US Open (6-4 6-0 6-2).(Source: Tennis Home Author: Spark)
