Jannik Sinner has achieved his career-best ranking points total after progressing to the Miami Open final by defeating Alexander Zverev in two sets.
The world's number 2 player continues his streak of winning every set in ATP Masters 1000 events by defeating Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) in a ruthlessly efficient performance.
The pivotal moment of the match came during the second-set tie-break, when Zverev missed a smash and Sinner seized the opportunity to close out the match just two points later. This victory also extends his consecutive set-winning streak at Masters 1000 tournaments to 32, starting from his flawless title run at the Paris Masters late in 2025.
Sinner is aiming to complete the "Sunshine Double" after winning the Indian Wells Masters, and given his current form, he will be a very difficult opponent to beat in Florida.

Sinner has reached his career-high points total
This victory also marks the eighth consecutive time Sinner has defeated Zverev, including the last four matches all won in straight sets. Consequently, he has raised his live ATP ranking points to 12,050 – his career-best and will be confirmed when the official rankings update on Monday.
Nevertheless, this figure is still insufficient for Sinner to surpass his rival Carlos Alcaraz in the rankings. However, the race for the world number 1 spot is heating up more than ever thanks to Sinner's impressive performances at Indian Wells and Miami.
This is not the first time the Italian player has surpassed the 12,000-point mark – he achieved this after winning Wimbledon last summer – and his upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.

Sinner has defeated Lehecka in all three previous encounters
Sinner is favored in the final against Jiri Lehecka. If he completes the Indian Wells–Miami double, his points total will rise to 12,400.
In that case, Sinner would trail Alcaraz by only 1,190 points ahead of the Monte-Carlo Masters next month – where 1,000 points are awarded to the champion. Notably, the Italian player has no points to defend during this period due to his absence last year because of a doping-related suspension.
