Wang Xinyu replaces Zheng Qinwen to reclaim the top Chinese player position, Andreeva becomes the most concerning figure in the top ten.

After the latest WTA rankings were released, fans and netizens joked that the tennis version of the classic song "Bringing Me Joy and Worry" is playing again!

Since Wang Xinyu suffered a first-round exit in Miami, handing over the hard-earned top Chinese player spot to Zheng Qinwen, the question of when "Yumeiren" (Wang Xinyu) could replace Zheng again and reclaim the top position became a hot topic in tennis circles.

With the latest WTA rankings published, the answer has finally arrived.

After briefly losing the top Chinese player position, Wang Xinyu reclaimed it this week, once again replacing Zheng Qinwen. The rankings show Wang Xinyu rising from No.34 to No.32, while Zheng Qinwen dropped from No.26 to No.36.

The reason Zheng Qinwen was quickly replaced by Wang Xinyu after the Miami event stems from her not entering the Charleston 500 tournament. Last year she reached the quarter-finals there; after deducting 108 points, her ranking plummeted, giving Wang Xinyu the chance to regain the top spot.

The top Chinese player position changed three times within about two weeks, prompting fans and netizens to ask how long Wang Xinyu can hold it this time, wondering if it might be like fireworks—bright but fleeting.

Some concerns arise mainly because Wang Xinyu's ranking points are currently very close to Zheng Qinwen's, with only a 33-point gap. Zheng needs just one win to reclaim the top spot.

Looking at Zheng Qinwen and Wang Xinyu's latest tournament schedules, Wang Xinyu will likely hold the top position at least until mid-April. Both Chinese players will start their clay season in mid-next month: Wang Xinyu will appear at the Lyon 250 event, while Zheng Qinwen will compete in the Stuttgart 500 tournament.

In this week's WTA rankings, another Chinese player who pleasantly surprised everyone is Wang Xiyu, who just celebrated her 25th birthday!

After recovering from injury, Wang Xiyu did not rush back to tour-level events but started from lower-level ITF challenger tournaments.

When Wang Xiyu announced her comeback schedule, many fans and netizens humorously called it a classic "surround the cities from the countryside" strategy. Though challenger events offer fewer points and prize money, they greatly help build confidence.

Since returning in Ma'anshan, Wang Xiyu's performance has not disappointed, winning consecutive titles at W35 and W50 challenger events, allowing her ranking to return to the TOP200 this week, currently at No.176.

After winning two titles in quick succession, Wang Xiyu isn't resting this week but raising her competition level, entering the W100 challenger in Liu'an, Anhui, competing against Zhu Lin, Ma Yexin, Guo Hanyu, and others for the championship.

With great success from the "surround the cities from the countryside" strategy, Wang Xiyu is clearly one of the favorites to win the Liu'an challenger. If she clinches the title, her ranking will surely rise further next week, moving closer to returning to the TOP100.

The fluctuating rankings of Chinese players are a topic fans and netizens relish, while the ranking situation among the world's top ten is also mixed with joy and concern.

Sabalenka, with the 1000 champion points from winning Miami, is the only player in the rankings exceeding 10,000 points. She leads second-place Rybakina by 2917 points, firmly holding the top spot.

Swiatek became the disappointed one; after a poor Miami debut, she was directly replaced by Gauff, dropping to fourth place. For the Polish player eager to return to world No.1, this is a significant setback.

However, Gauff currently leads Swiatek by only 15 points. Once the clay season begins, entering Swiatek's strong domain, the six-time Grand Slam champion could likely deliver new surprises.

Among the current top ten, another disappointed player is Russian Andreeva, who is the most concerning figure.

After failing to defend her titles in Dubai and Indian Wells consecutively, Andreeva's ranking has continuously declined. Though still within the world top ten, her advantage is now slim.

Currently ranked tenth, the Russian "spicy" player has small gaps behind her with Muchova, Bencic, Alexandrova, and Noskova. Particularly, Muchova at No.11 trails by only 128 points, and she leads Noskova at No.14 by only 320 points. This means after the clay season begins, at least three players could potentially replace her top ten position, pushing her out of the top ten list.

With the ranking crisis alarm fully sounding, Andreeva's performance in the clay season is crucial. Whether her ranking rises or falls depends entirely on what results she can deliver on clay courts!(Source: Tennis Home Author: Moon River's Sky)
