Wang Xiyu secures 13 consecutive wins after comeback, You Xiaodi qualifies for French Open!

On April 3 Beijing time, the W100 Lu'an station women's singles quarter-finals commenced, with Chinese players occupying three of the four semi-final spots. Wang Xiyu continued her hot streak, defeating qualifier Shubraze 6-3/6-2 in 1 hour and 24 minutes, achieving 13 consecutive wins since her return, and her live ranking rose to No.167.

Wang Xiyu

Wang Xiyu returned from injury at the W35 Maanshan station in mid-March, marking her first return to competition since last October's WTA Hong Kong event. Starting with a world ranking of No.226, Wang Xiyu chose to restart in domestic lower-level tournaments to adjust her form and gradually improve her ranking. She successively won both the W35 and W50 titles in Maanshan, including a straight-sets victory over Guo Hanyu in last weekend's women's singles final.

Wang Xiyu and Zhu Lin met in the first round at Lu'an

Moving to this week's W100 Lu'an station, Wang Xiyu and Zhu Lin faced each early in the first round. After a two-hour battle, Wang Xiyu again won in straight sets. After overcoming the "hard nut" Zhu Lin, Wang Xiyu has been unstoppable in the past two rounds, entering the semi-finals without dropping a set.

Wang Xiyu's semi-final opponent will be compatriot You Xiaodi, who battled British player Dart in three sets, ultimately winning 6-1/0-6/6-4 in a tough match. Her live ranking rose to No.219, securing a French Open qualifying spot. She had previously achieved two Grand Slam qualifying victories at the 2022 Australian Open and the 2024 French Open.

You Xiaodi

You Xiaodi performed impressively this week. As a non-seeded player, she drew top seed Taralud in the first round and won in straight sets; in the second round against the promising Thai newcomer Sa Wangkai, she lost only five games to advance easily. Today against Dart, whose world ranking once reached No.70, You Xiaodi prevailed in the three-set struggle.

Ren Yufei

Wildcard entrant youngster Ren Yufei upset 4th seed Preston 7-6(2)/7-6(4), successfully advancing to the semi-finals. Her semi-final opponent will be qualifier Lan Xie Lie, who swept Falei 6-1/6-4.

This week Ren Yufei performed excellently. In the first round she defeated 8th seed Ma Yexin, and today she defeated Preston in two tie-breaks, securing two consecutive TOP200 victories. Preston had defeated Zhang Shuai in the first round of this year's Australian Open.
