ATP Marrakech: Hodal Wins First Career Title, Becomes Second "Post-2006" Player


On April 5 local time, 19-year-old Spanish youngster Hodal defeated 36-year-old qualifier Trengriti 6-3/6-2 to successfully claim his first career tour-level title at the ATP250 Marrakech event. In men's doubles, the American pair Cash/Tracy beat Kilkov/Stevens 6-2/6-3 to win the championship.

Hodal is the first teenage player to win a tour-level title this season, becoming the second "post-2006" player to capture a maiden title after Fonseca. His world ranking was only No.911 a year ago; with the 250 ranking points earned from this week's victory, he will break into the TOP60 for the first time.

In the ATP250 Bucharest men's singles final, seventh seed Navone edged past qualifier dark horse Merida 6-2/4-6/7-5 to secure his first career tour-level title. After earning 250 ranking points and 93,175 euros in prize money, his world ranking will return to TOP50. In the men's doubles final, top seeds Dumbia/Lebour defeated the Czech pair Pavlasek/Ricker 6-1/6-4 to claim the title.
