Sinner's former coach strongly supports: Andy Murray is the best candidate to coach Sinner

Journalist Ewan West reported 7 hours ago that Italian tennis rising star Jannik Sinner's former meritorious coach Riccardo Piatti, in an interview with Italy's "Corriere della Sera," clearly stated that three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray is the perfect choice to coach Sinner, sparking widespread discussion in the tennis world.

Piatti was a key guide in Sinner's career, starting to coach him at age 13 and nurturing him into a future world No. 1; their collaboration ended in February 2022 after several years. This 67-year-old Italian renowned coach has an illustrious record, having coached tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova, Ivan Ljubicic, Goran Ivanisevic, Milos Raonic, Richard Gasquet, and Borna Coric, possessing unique insights into coaching top players.

Regarding Sinner's current coaching team, Piatti admitted that coaching world-class players involves immense pressure, requiring life arrangements entirely centered on the player's needs. He predicted that Darren Cahill, who originally planned to retire by the end of 2025, is likely to officially depart by the end of this year.

Addressing external speculation about Andre Agassi coaching Sinner, Piatti directly dismissed it, instead praising Murray: "He is intelligent, has rich on-court experience, and a calm temperament, perfectly matching Sinner's coaching needs." He also revealed that after Murray defeated young Sinner in straight sets at the 2021 Stockholm event, he immediately approached Murray post-match, wanting to sign him to coach Sinner right then, but unfortunately Murray was determined to continue his playing career at that time, so it didn't happen.

Murray ended his playing career in August 2024; from November 2024 to May 2025, he briefly coached his longtime rival Novak Djokovic, showing promising coaching potential after transitioning. Piatti's strong endorsement also makes the potential mentor-student combination of Murray and Sinner a highly anticipated possibility in the tennis world.

Do you think Murray might join Sinner's team?
