Asia's top-ranked tennis player to compete in Laver Cup 2026

The upcoming Laver Cup is set to take place at the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom between September 25 and 27.

For the first time in his career, Alexander Bublik will participate in the Laver Cup after being selected for the World Team for the 2026 tournament in London. Known for his strong personality, inspired playing style, and ability to create surprises at the top of the ATP Tour, the Kazakh player is expected to become one of the most notable figures in the competition at the O2 Arena this September.

"I have always loved and admired the Laver Cup. It's a tournament I regularly follow, so being selected for the World Team is truly special. I'm very much looking forward to experiencing that atmosphere for the first time as a team member.", the 29-year-old player said.

The Laver Cup is famous for its unique team format, where top world players team up together instead of competing against each other as usual. Bublik fully understands the intensity of the tournament and believes this will be a completely different experience.

"All players compete with the highest fighting spirit. Fans will witness top-level matches and a special atmosphere. I have played against many members of the World Team over the years, so I am excited to become their teammate.", the top-ranked player in Asia shared.

One of the players Bublik is most looking forward to teaming up with is Ben Shelton. The two have played doubles together and reached the semifinals of the Rome Masters in 2024. Additionally, Bublik maintains a close relationship with the American star's family.

Standing at 1.96 meters tall with powerful serves, Bublik is regarded as a key tactical asset for captain Andre Agassi. Not only is he strong in singles, but the Kazakh player also has extensive doubles experience, having reached the Roland Garros 2021 final and the Australian Open 2020 semifinals.

"I can play well indoors and am ready to support the team in doubles. I hope to bring diversity to the lineup.", Bublik said.
