WTA Miami: Zheng Qinwen lost to Sabalenka in two sets and suffered a six-game losing streak

On March 25, Beijing time, the 2025 WTA1000 Miami station started the women's singles quarterfinals, and the No. 9 seed Zheng Qinwen lost 2-6/5-7 to world No. 1 Sabalenka to stop the quarterfinals, losing all six meetings with the latter. Sabalenka reached the semi-finals of Miami for the first time in her career and will face sixth seed Paulini in the semi-finals.

Sabalenka broke first in the third game, while Zheng Qinwen broke back in the next game to level the score at 2-2, after which Sabalenka's form improved, and she took the next set 6-2 in four consecutive games. Zheng Qinwen once took a 2-0/30-0 lead, but was tied by his opponent, and the two fought to a 5-5 draw in the first ten games, with Sabalenka breaking and defending at the end of the match to seal the win in the next set 7-5.


Zheng Qinwen reached the quarterfinals back-to-back in this year's Sunshine Doubles, creating a career-best record, and she lost to the top two Swiatek and Sabalenka respectively in these two tournaments, and her competitive form has been significantly boosted from the beginning of the year. Zheng Qinwen will kick off her clay-court season at the end of this month, and her next stop is the WTA 500 Charleston on March 31.
