ATP Rome Masters: Sinner returns to two wins in a row, and the round of 16 squad is out

On May 12, local time, the ATP Rome Masters launched the third round of men's singles in the first half of the region, and the men's singles top 16 lineup was decided. Homegrown world No. 1 Sinner defeated Frenkie de Jong 6-4, 6-4 to make it to the last 16 of the men's singles and face 17th seed Serundolo in the next round, who beat Ofner 6-2, 6-4. It was Sinner's fourth career run in the last 16 of Roma, with two wins and two defeats in his first four meetings with Cerundolo.

Sixth seed and Madrid Masters champion Ruud took a 7-5, 2-0 lead before Berrettini withdrew, and the Norwegian advanced to the round of 16 to face Spain's Munar, who beat American Koda 6-4, 6-2.

Mensic, the 20th seed and winner of this year's Miami Masters, defeated Marosanne 6-4, 7-6(2) to reach the round of 16 in his last three Masters tournaments and will face 30th seed Hurkacz, who beat American Giron 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. No.7 seed De Minaur won two 6-4 victories over Drion and will next face No.11 seed Paul for a place in the quarter-finals, who beat 19th seed Mahachi 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4.
