This week, there was big news in tennis that Djokovic and Murray ended their brief coaching partnership. At the same time, he seems to have quickly started the process of finding a new coach.
At the Australian Open in January, Djokovic's collaboration with old rival Andy Murray shocked the tennis world. Murray then followed Deyo to Indian Wells and Miami for continued collaboration. However, this week the two sides confirmed the end of the partnership. In announcing the news, Djokovic did not hesitate to praise Murray, thanking Murray for his hard work, companionship and support on and off the court over the past six months, and said that he was very happy to deepen the friendship between the two. Murray also expressed his gratitude to Deyo for the opportunity to work together and his team, and wished Deyo all the best for the rest of the season.
The current situation is quite similar to that of the same period last year. At the time, Djokovic announced that he had parted ways with long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic, and now it looks like history is repeating itself and he needs to fill the void in his coaching staff once again. At the moment, there are signs that Serbian Boris Bosniakovic has returned to the Djokovic camp. Bosniakovic is a longtime partner of Djokovic, having joined his team before the French Open last year. Recently, he was photographed training with the soon-to-be-38-year-old Deyo, who had also trained with Davis Cup team-mate Kecmanovic in Serbia.
Djokovic spoke about working with Bosniakovic before last year's French Open, revealing that Bosniakovic will be involved in analysing opponents, matches and his own technical performances, and will also be his coach in Paris, responsible for analysis, preparation and tactical arrangements. However, as for the arrangements after the French Open, Deyo said at the time that he had no long-term coaching plans.
Heading into 2025, Djokovic's form is worrying. His defeats in the opening matches of the Monte Carlo and Madrid Masters have thrown his preparations for the French Open into disarray and his future has been questioned.
Djokovic's changes in coaching staff and his ups and downs have left fans and media alike excited and speculating about his upcoming performances and career.
