Day 2 of the 2025 French Open: Wang Xinyu Xiaobu regretted the loss, and Fritz Navarro was upset

The 2025 French Open ended the second match day of the main draw, and the two Chinese players who appeared on that day, Wang Xinyu and Buyun Chaokert, both unfortunately lost. Wang Xinyu lost to Grand Slam champion Raducanu in three sets; Byunchaokt lost in four sets to Austria's Misorić, who broke through from qualifying, and continued to miss the first Grand Slam main draw victory.

Wang Xinyu

Raducanu

China's Wang Xinyu made her debut on Court 8 and battled former US Open champion Raducanu for two hours and 44 minutes, losing 5-7, 6-4, 3-6 in the first round of two Grand Slams this year, despite breaking back in the tiebreaker's service game and saving two match points. Raducanu picked up his first win at Roland Garros since 2022 and will face defending champion Swiatek in the second round. Next, Wang Xinyu will also partner Zheng Saisai to compete in the women's doubles event.

Buyun Chaoket

Buyunchaoket made his third appearance on Court 5, losing two tie-breaks in a row after winning the first set before slipping into form in the fourth set to lose 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 1-6 to Misorich. The Austrian is a quintessential clay player, with all of his titles (Hopes, Challengers) coming on clay, and his only Grand Slam main draw victory came at last year's French Open. After Yuan Yue, Wang Xinyu, and Buyun Chaokert lost in the first round, Zheng Qinwen became the "Chinese lone seedling" in the singles field of this French Open.

In Men's Singles, fourth seed Fritz became the most seeded to be eliminated from the French Open with a 5-7, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6 defeat by Germany's Altmaier. World No. 1 Sinner and defending champion Alcaraz are the two favourites to win the tournament in three sets. No. 10 seed Rune, No. 14 seed Fez, two-time runner-up Ruud, No. 20 seed Tsitsipas, No. 22 seed Amber, No. 23 seed Koda, No. 24 seed Khachanov, No. 25 seed Poplin, and No. 27 seed Shapovalov all made it through. Eighteenth seed Cerundolo and former tournament champion Wawrinka were out in the first round.

In Women's Singles, ninth seed Navarro was the highest-ranked player to exit the day, losing just one game to Bosas Manero 0-6, 1-6. Spanish star Badosa, the No.10 seed, defeated former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka in three sets to win the first-round matchup. Defending champion Swiatek and No.7 seed Keith won quickly to advance to the second round.

Former tournament champion Krejcikova defeated T. Maria in two sets to claim her first win since returning from injury, and her first victory at Roland Garros since winning the 2021 French Open. No. 12 seed Rybakina, No. 17 seed Kasatkina, No. 19 seed Samsonova, No. 20 seed Aleksandar Nova and No. 21 seed Ostapenko all advanced to the second round. Homegrown star Garcia completed her final singles dance at the French Open as the Frenchman lost 4-6, 4-6 to Pera on Susan Lenglen Stadium.
