The 2025 French Open ended the fourth match day of the main draw, and the second round of the women's singles upper half and men's singles lower half took the lead. Eighth seed Zheng Qinwen faced Colombia's Arango in the round, and China's Jinhua dominated the pace of the match from start to finish, eventually winning 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the round of 32 for the second year in a row. The main focus of the match was between three-time defending champion Swiatek and former US Open champion Raducanu, but the fifth seed didn't leave much chance for his opponent to win 6-1, 6-2 in just 79 minutes, making it 23 wins in a row at the French Open. Swiatek's next opponent on her title defence will be Christian, who overcame qualifier Bellek 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Top seed Sabalenka beat Teichmann 6-3, 6-1 and fourth seed Paulini beat Tomjanovic 6-3, 6-3 to make it through to the next round. No.12 seed Rybakina, No.13 seed Svitolina, No.16 seed Anisimova, No.19 seed Samsonova, No.21 seed Ostapenko and No.22 seed Taussen all made it to the round of 32.
11th seed Schneider lost 5-7, 5-7 to Yastremska, while 18th seed Vekic lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-7(3) to Pera and was the only seeded player to go out on the day. In addition, Collins and Potapova were eliminated by Danilovich and Starodubtseva respectively.

In Men's Singles, second seed Alcaraz will face Hungary's Marousanne in this round, and both sides have won and lost their previous meetings. The two former runners-up Ruud and Tsitsipas stopped in the second round. Ruud, the seventh seed at this year's Madrid Masters, suffered an injury in the first set and lost 6-2, 4-6, 1-6, 0-6 to Borges. No.20 seed Tsitsipas suffered a shock 4-6, 7-5, 2-6, 4-6 defeat to qualifier Gigante to reach the second round of the French Open for the first time in seven years.
