In February, the US Open announced a new overhaul of the mixed doubles event, which will be held in the same week as the singles qualifiers, with a star-studded list of entries featuring almost all of the current top players in men's and women's tennis, Grand Slam champions and the defending champions Errani/Vavasori.

This year's Mixed Doubles event will take place from Tuesday 19 to Wednesday 20 August, with the winning pair taking home a whopping US$1 million in prize money, all at Arthur Ashe or Louis Armstrong. The first three rounds of the tournament adopt a best-of-three system, a short-set system (the first to win 4 games), no first score, 4-4 draw and then tie seven; The tiebreaker is replaced by a 10-point tie-break; The final adopts a best-of-three system (6-game system), with no preemptive scoring, 6-6 draw and then tie-break; The deciding set was replaced by a 10-point tie-break.

Zheng Qinwen's mixed doubles partner, Draper, who is currently ranked No.6 in the world, has a series of good results this year, including winning the Indian Wells Masters and finishing runner-up at the Madrid Masters. The Brit, who is seeded No. 2 in men's singles at this week's ATP 500 Queen's Cup, replied when asked about his prospects of being paired with Zheng Qinwen in a press conference after his first-round victory: "I think it will be very interesting to play in this tournament and partner with her [Zheng]. For players, this format will help us prepare well for the US Open, to be able to partner with another top player and challenge for the title, and Khin Wen is a very good player, she is at a very high level. ”
