Sinner is reuniting with his former physical trainer Umberto Ferrara. They are collaborating again.
Sinner worked with former Djokovic team members Panic and Badioufor only nine months before parting ways just before Wimbledon. Ferrara has been brought back to take over their roles.
In the "positive drug test" incident, Ferrara used a spray containing banned substances for his finger injury, which he then gave to physiotherapist Nardi. After using the spray, Nardi massaged Sinner, leading to Sinner's positive drug test.
After the incident, the two shifted blame, with one saying, "I told him the spray contained banned substances," while the other replied, "I didn't hear that." Subsequently, both left the team amid the controversy.
Industry insiders commented, "A team like Federer or Djokovic would never make such a rookie mistake!" Shortly after, Sinner brought Panic and Badiou, former team members of Djokovic, into his team, replacing Ferrara and Nardi.
This move left many fans bewildered. At the time, Panic had just recently joined the Zhang Jun team. Is this an attempt to leverage the good reputation of the "Djokovic team"?
However, after nine months of collaboration, Sinner parted ways with the duo. When asked by the media about the reasons, Sinner replied, "It was nothing serious."
Now, with Sinner bringing Ferrara back, are fans once again left scratching their heads?
At the press conference, Sinner stated: "Umberto is the best physical coach I have ever worked with, and his return reflects our renewed focus on stability and peak performance."
Ferrara has already started working in Monte Carlo this week, preparing for Cincinnati and the US Open.
I wonder if physiotherapist Nardi will also be making a return soon...
