Vietnam women's volleyball team couldn't cause an upset against the world's top 3 team

(Volleyball results) - The Vietnam women's volleyball team shocked by winning against Poland in the first set but failed to maintain their lead in the opening match of the 2025 World Championship.

Set 1: Vietnam 25-23 Poland

A dream start for Vietnam against the world’s third-ranked team. In their first appearance on the big stage, without their top scorer Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese players still played confidently and proactively with diverse and effective attacks. Nhu Quynh, Thanh Thuy, Kieu Trinh, and Bich Thuy all shone, helping Vietnam even take a 3-point lead in the final sprint of the set.

Poland caught up afterward; however, their mistakes allowed us to score 3 consecutive points, securing a surprising victory over Poland in the first set.

Set 2: Vietnam 10-25 Poland

Poland asserted absolute dominance in the second set. With impressive height, Poland mostly won the net battles and delivered a "storm" of monster blocks against us. Under intense pressure from the opponent, the Vietnamese girls couldn’t hold firm and continuously fell behind, suffering a heavy defeat in this set.

Set 3: Vietnam 12-25 Poland

The third set unfolded similarly to the previous one. The Vietnam women's volleyball team started well, but the height and skill gap became evident. We were completely overwhelmed by the tall and well-organized blockers of the opponent, suffering another heavy loss and allowing Poland to take a 2-1 lead.

Set 4: Vietnam 22-25 Poland

Vietnam came back strongly in the fourth set with consecutive points from the start. Even when Poland caught up and took the lead, Thanh Thuy and her teammates remained unfazed, continuing to play well and forcing the opponent’s defense to work hard.

With standout players, especially thanks to Stysiak and Korneluk’s scoring ability, Poland still achieved what they needed, winning the first 3 points of the World Championship this year.

Final result, Poland defeated Vietnam 3-1 (23-25; 25-10; 25-12; 22-25).
