"I think we were somewhat nervous. It was the first match and the first set. Things unfolded beyond our expectations. Vietnam served very well in this set. I think that was the biggest difficulty for Poland. Vietnam served and played many short balls. We really did not perform well in this set."
"The opening matches of tournaments are often unpredictable. Teams not regarded as championship contenders display very energetic play and a relaxed mindset. We faced great pressure, and maybe that caused Poland to fail to perform at their best," Wenerska said.
"Vietnam played with a slightly different starting lineup than in previous matches, but I don’t think that was the reason Poland lost the first set. We didn’t understand their playing style and made some unnecessary mistakes," added captain and middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk.
"Poland reacted very well in the next two sets and also in the fourth set, although we encountered some difficulties. The pressure was lifted, and things got much better," Wenerska concluded happily.
