It wasn’t Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, nor Như Quỳnh; one of our players truly shocked everyone despite Vietnam’s 1-3 defeat to Poland.
It’s hard to believe but it’s true, a fact that surely astonished many Vietnamese volleyball fans beyond belief.
It wasn’t the experienced and most famous Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, nor Như Quỳnh who scored the most points for Vietnam against Poland (20 points).
Middle blocker Bích Thủy was actually the most effective attacker for Vietnam, outperforming even the top four highest scorers for Poland in their 3-1 win over Vietnam.
Bích Thủy (number 25) was the most efficient attacker for Vietnam, surpassing even Poland’s four top scorers during the match on the evening of August 23.
Bích Thủy scored 9 points in the match against Poland. The middle blocker from Hóa Chất Đức Giang wasn’t frequently set the ball, but she made excellent use of every chance she got.
Statistics show that Bích Thủy made only 14 attacks against Poland, successfully converting 9 into points for Vietnam. On 4 other occasions, she still managed to send the ball over to Poland’s court without scoring.
She made only one attacking error that directly gave Poland a point. Bích Thủy’s attack efficiency reached 57.14%, far exceeding Như Quỳnh (27.27%), Kiều Trinh (36.36%), Nguyễn Thị Uyên (23.08%), Nguyễn Thị Trinh (18.18%), and overwhelmingly outperforming Trần Thị Thanh Thúy (-28%) in an unimaginable way.
Not only was her attack efficiency much higher than her teammates, Bích Thủy also outperformed all four of Poland’s top scorers in attack efficiency: outside hitter Stysiak (29 points, 55.56%), middle blocker Korneluk (16 points, 52.38%), opposite Lukasik (16 points, 45.83%), and opposite Czyrniańska (11 points, 35%).
