Identifying the teams that have secured early qualification to the knockout stage of the Volleyball World Championship

After two rounds, the scenario of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship is becoming clear with numerous top teams already qualifying for the round of 16.

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship is entering a tense phase as the group stage nears its end. After two matches, many strong teams have secured progression, while some others must wait until the final round to determine their positions.

Previously, Thailand, the Netherlands (Group A); Italy, Belgium (Group B); and the USA (Group D) easily earned their tickets to advance after the first two days of competition.

In Group E, Turkey continues to prove why they are considered championship contenders. The team defeated Bulgaria 3-0, maintaining a perfect winning record and securing a spot in the knockout stage. Canada also clinched the remaining spot after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Spain.

Although qualification is already decided, the final round remains noteworthy as Turkey and Canada face off for the group’s top spot, while Bulgaria and Spain battle to avoid finishing last.

Group F showcases China's consistent performance. After a dominant win in their opening match, the team continued by defeating Colombia 3-1. With six points from two matches, China has secured early qualification.

In the other match, the Dominican Republic also overcame Mexico 3-0 without much difficulty. Currently, China and the Dominican Republic share the top spot, and their upcoming direct encounter will decide the group winner. Meanwhile, Colombia and Mexico will compete only for pride.

Group G has also been decided early as Poland and Germany both remain undefeated, securing places among the top 16 teams. These two European representatives demonstrated superior strength against Vietnam and Kenya, setting up a head-to-head race for first place.

The Vietnamese team, after two losses, temporarily sits at the bottom of the group. However, Thanh Thúy and her teammates still have a match against Kenya on August 27. This is an opportunity for Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s squad to seek a respectable victory and finish the tournament on a positive note in their world debut.

In Group H, Japan and Serbia have both secured progression after two consecutive wins. Serbia defeated Cameroon 3-0, while Japan struggled but managed a 3-2 win over Ukraine. In the final round, Japan will face Serbia to decide the group leader, while Cameroon and Ukraine compete to avoid last place.

According to the tournament rules, only the top 16 teams advance, while those eliminated in the group stage do not play classification matches. The knockout stage will take place from August 29 to 31, where any mistake could be costly.
