The head coach of the German national team reveals the truth behind their victory over the Vietnam women's volleyball team.

The head coach of the German women's volleyball team, Giulio Cesare Bregoli, revealed that he has found a way to counter the playing style of the Vietnam women's volleyball team.

On the evening of August 25 in Phuket, the Vietnam women's volleyball team was defeated by Germany in the group stage of the 2025 World Championship, suffering their second consecutive loss. Against the world’s 12th-ranked team, Vietnam led only once and managed to surpass 20 points in just one set, unable to replicate the surprise of winning a set against Poland. The set scores were 18-25, 17-25, and 21-25 respectively.

After the match, Germany’s head coach Giulio Cesare Bregoli told VTV Cab: "There were two crucial points in our quick victory over Vietnam. First is the serve. We focused on long serves to push the Vietnamese team away from the net so they couldn’t play fast or execute tactical attacks. Second is the variety in serving styles. We watched the match between Vietnam and Poland and knew your team often served short. We prepared thoroughly for this match."

Giulio Cesare Bregoli has identified how to counter the playing style of the Vietnam women's volleyball team.

Giulio Cesare Bregoli continued speaking about Vietnam’s participation in the global competition: "When you have young players, or for example some of my own athletes, and you compete in this tournament, you need to accumulate experience. So every match like this is a small building block you add to your experience to become a stronger team or a better player. This is the same for everyone."

"What changes is that the more experienced players you have, the easier it becomes for the team. Therefore, I firmly believe the key for Vietnam’s national team is to play as many matches as possible at this level. This will give them valuable experience. And in the next match, it’s not just about winning or losing but about learning," Coach Giulio Cesare Bregoli affirmed.

The Vietnam women's volleyball team is preparing for their match against Kenya tomorrow (August 27), aiming to secure a victory in their final group stage game.
