Set 1: Thailand 25-23 Netherlands
Despite being rated lower than the Netherlands, Thailand showed great determination and the advantage of playing at home, competing fiercely and exchanging points with their opponent for most of the first set, even taking the lead in the final sprint. Under the orchestration of setter Pornpun, Pimpichaya maintained her impressive scoring form to help create a surprise for the home team.
Not only was their offense strong, but Thailand's defense also performed effectively with well-timed blocks and coverage. The first set win was well deserved by Coach Kiattipong and his team.
Set 2: Thailand 17-25 Netherlands
The Netherlands came back strongly to restore order in the second set. The European team used their height advantage to dominate, while Thailand's attack showed signs of cooling off. The Netherlands continuously scored to widen the gap, racing to equalize 1-1 in this match.
Set 3: Thailand 25-23 Netherlands
The third set was tense from the very first rallies. Thailand started well and at times built a significant lead thanks to their relentless defense and quick wing attacks. However, the Netherlands did not give up easily; they kept chasing and narrowed the gap at crucial moments.
Still, in the final points, Pimpichaya and her teammates played better. The home crowd seemed to boost the team's morale as they took the lead 24-23 after a decisive attack, then converted the set point to go up 2-1.
Set 4: Thailand 10-25 Netherlands
Thailand started very poorly in the fourth set, and as the gap widened to an almost impossible level to recover from, Coach Kiattipong seemed ready to settle the outcome in the decisive fifth set. The Netherlands closed the fourth set with an 8-0 run, sealing a dominant score for that set.
Set 5: Thailand 14-16 Netherlands
The Netherlands played better for most of the decisive fifth set, but at critical points, Thailand showed great composure, leading 12-10.
However, failing to finish attacks against the resilient Dutch defense cost Pimpichaya and her teammates dearly. The Netherlands scored four consecutive points to earn two match points, and although Thailand saved both, the European side proved their class by narrowly winning 16-14.
Final result, Netherlands defeated Thailand 3-2 (23-25; 25-17; 23-25; 25-10; 16-14) to claim the top spot in Group A, pushing Thailand down to second place.
