The top-ranked teams have already qualified for the knockout phase of this year's Women's Volleyball World Championship.
The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship held in Thailand has reached its halfway point. After thrilling matches, the 16 best teams advancing to the round of 16 have been officially revealed.
The defending champion Serbia secured their place in the knockout stage along with Japan who advanced early by one round and will face the Asian representative to compete for the top spot in Group H. However, Serbia's ambition to defend their title will be significantly affected by the latest injury to the tournament's reigning MVP - Tijana Boskovic.
Similarly, the current runner-up Brazil demonstrated absolute strength with three consecutive wins, securing first place in Group C alongside France - a team also dominant with two victories over Greece and Puerto Rico.
The team ranked fourth in the last World Championship three years ago - the USA showed overwhelming superiority in Group D. Despite a turbulent VNL season with personnel changes, the "Land of the Free" team remains strong compared to Slovenia, Argentina, and the Czech Republic.
This group also witnessed the most dramatic competition for the second knockout spot. Slovenia, Argentina, and the Czech Republic all had identical records of one win and two losses, but Slovenia advanced due to a better point score.
The top favorite for the 2025 World Championship title - Italy dominated Group B with convincing wins over Belgium, Cuba, and Slovakia. Belgium with stars Britt Herbots and Pauline Martin also showed a clear edge over the other two teams, finishing second in the group.
Another well-known team - Turkey together with Canada advanced from the top positions in Group E. Meanwhile, China had a tough time in Group F but still managed to advance alongside the Dominican Republic through the first stage.
In Group A, host Thailand showed good form with two wins and one loss, finishing second overall and advancing along with the Netherlands In Group G, which included Vietnam, no surprises occurred as Germany, Poland - two very strong teams led the group, while Vietnam aimed for a historic victory in their final match against Kenya.
The round of 16 matches of this year's Women's Volleyball World Championship will take place from August 29.
