At the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, outside hitter Vi Thị Như Quỳnh accumulated 35 points over three games, making her the top scorer for the Vietnamese team.
During the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, Vi Thị Như Quỳnh stood out as the highest point scorer for Vietnam after three group stage matches. Born in 2002, the outside hitter made an impressive mark with a total of 35 points, surpassing her teammates and maintaining consistent performance throughout the tournament.
According to statistics from the organizers, Như Quỳnh scored 29 points from attacks, 3 points from blocks, and 3 points from serves. On average, she contributed 11.67 points per match. Her attack efficiency was 32.95%, block success rate was 50%, and serving efficiency reached 10.71%. These figures highlight the key role of the 1.75m tall outside hitter in Vietnam’s lineup at the world’s biggest stage.
In the opening match against Poland on August 23, Như Quỳnh was a rare bright spot for the team, scoring 20 points including 18 from attacks, 1 from blocking, and 1 from serving. This was also her best performance of the tournament, as Vietnam surprisingly won a set against the world’s third-ranked team.
Two days later, facing Germany, the Hà Tĩnh native managed only 3 points, all from attacks. Confronted with disciplined blocking and tight defense from the opponent, she struggled to break through and did not score from serves or blocks. Nevertheless, Như Quỳnh remained the main outside hitter used throughout, demonstrating her role as a cornerstone of the team’s offense.
In the last group match against Kenya on August 27, Như Quỳnh scored 12 points, including 8 from attacks, 2 from blocks, and 2 from serves. Although Vietnam lost 0-3, her performance helped the team stay competitive in the first two sets before fading in the decisive set. Her consistent contributions in attack, block, and serve show the versatility and adaptability of the 23-year-old outside hitter.
Overall, after three matches, Như Quỳnh remained the most effective offensive player for Vietnam. Averaging nearly 10 attack points per game, she proved indispensable in coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s strategy. Additionally, her blocking and serving skills provided crucial support during critical moments.
After the World Championship, the players will conclude the first training phase and return to their clubs to prepare for Phase 2 of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship, scheduled to begin on October 10 in Ninh Bình.
