Fitness expert Karl Lim will depart from the Vietnam women's volleyball team after the major tournament in Thailand.
Australian fitness expert Karl Lim will temporarily leave the Vietnam women's volleyball team after the 2025 World Championship ends. He will return briefly to his homeland to handle personal affairs before coming back to continue his collaboration with Vietnamese volleyball in the next phase.
Karl Lim began working with Vietnamese volleyball in April 2025 under the International Volleyball Federation's (FIVB) technical support program. He served as the fitness coach for both the national team and the youth women's team.
During his tenure, the expert helped athletes notably enhance their endurance, physical foundation, and recovery ability after matches. These improvements contributed to Vietnamese players competing with more confidence and resilience against opponents with superior physiques. During his time, fitness expert Karl Lim also played a role in helping the Vietnam women's volleyball team win the second stage of the 2025 SEA V.League.

Mr. Karl Lim, born in 1976, holds numerous international qualifications. Coach Karl Lim is said to have a strong affinity for the volleyball environment in Vietnam because it feels close to his homeland.
At the 2025 World Championship, Vietnam was in Group G along with Poland, Germany, and Kenya. Head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was assisted by Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Le Thi Hien, and Karl Lim. Although the team did not achieve successful results, it demonstrated physical fitness improvements due to thorough pre-tournament preparation.
The loss to Kenya on August 27 caused Vietnam to drop 12.77 points. Across three defeats (to Germany, Poland, and Kenya), Coach Tuan Kiet’s squad lost a total of 19.04 points. Specifically, the Vietnam women's volleyball team lost 0.01 points against Poland and 6.26 points against Germany.
From 22nd in the world rankings, Vietnam dropped to 28th with 136.75 points. Meanwhile, Kenya made a significant jump from 27th to 21st place.
After the tournament concluded, the initial training phase was considered complete. The Vietnam women's team is expected to reconvene in November 2025 to prepare for the upcoming journey.
