The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship officially ended for the Vietnam women's volleyball team after the group stage. Making their debut on the planet’s biggest stage, although they did not achieve any victories, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s team left many marks of fighting spirit, perseverance, and, importantly, valuable lessons for the road ahead.
Drawn in Group G with strong opponents Poland, Germany, and Kenya, Vietnam understood that the chance to advance was very slim. In the first two opening matches, the red-clad girls had to face teams with superior tradition and higher class.
Although defeated, in every rally, the Vietnam women's volleyball team showed determination to start strong, never surrendering under heavy pressure. Facing top world teams became a valuable experience, helping young athletes gain more experience, courage, and confidence for the future.
After two consecutive losses, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s team was highly motivated for the final match against Kenya held yesterday afternoon (August 27). This was also the opponent Vietnam had previously beaten 3-0 in a friendly right before the tournament. The goal to win an honorable victory thus became more passionate than ever.
However, entering the official tournament, the "Queens of Africa" showed a completely different face. They played powerfully, quickly, and full of confidence.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam women's volleyball team failed to maintain their usual form, played below strength, and made many unnecessary mistakes. As a result, the Vietnam women's volleyball team quickly lost 0-3 with scores of 23-25, 22-25, and 18-25, officially ending their group stage journey with three losses and ranking 4th in Group G.
Despite the loss, the Vietnam women's volleyball team still had standout individuals. Vi Quỳnh was the team’s top scorer with 12 points (28% attack success, 2 blocks, and 2 service aces).

Besides, Thanh Thúy and Kiều Trinh each scored 6 points, Nguyễn Trinh and Nguyễn Uyên each contributed 5 points. These numbers reflect the considerable effort of each player, especially given they faced teams much stronger in physique, stamina, and experience.
More importantly, competing for the first time at a World Championship helped the whole team realize the gap compared to the world’s leading teams, thereby setting the task to improve technique, tactics, and competitive mindset.
Closing the tournament with three defeats, the Vietnam women's volleyball team certainly has much to do to rise higher. But this journey is not meaningless. It is a historic milestone, marking the first time Vietnam women's volleyball has appeared on the global stage, once seen as too distant.
Today’s defeats are the foundation for the team’s future growth. Lessons from differences in speed, stamina, organization, and discipline in play will become motivation for long-term training and preparation.
Above all, the tournament helped Vietnamese fans clearly see a young generation of players daring to step out to the big stage, eager to contribute and ready to learn.
Although the journey at the 2025 World Championship ended without a win, the important thing is that Vietnam women's volleyball has had a start. This is just the first step on the path to integration and advancement. With proper investment, fan support, and the players’ determination, Vietnam women’s volleyball can fully expect to progress further in the coming years.
At a tournament where only the world’s strongest teams gather, just being present is a source of pride. This journey, though short, will surely be remembered as the beginning of a new chapter, where Vietnam women’s volleyball strives to assert its position on the international volleyball map.
