The Vietnam Volleyball Federation is negotiating with a Japanese club regarding Trần Thị Thanh Thúy after Coach Tuấn Kiệt’s team exited the world championship.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation is negotiating with the Japanese club to facilitate Trần Thị Thanh Thúy’s return for the 2025 SEA Games.

Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, captain of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team, will maintain a packed schedule after the 2025 World Championship in Thailand. Immediately following the tournament, she will represent VTV Bình Điền Long An at the 2025 King’s Cup International Volleyball Tournament (August 14–19) in Thailand. This event will feature Bình Điền Long An’s full domestic squad, including familiar names like Trà My, Kim Thanh, Bảo Ngọc, and Mỹ Tiên…

After the King’s Cup, Thanh Thúy will move to Japan to compete for Gunma Green Wings. However, her match calendar overlaps closely with the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team’s schedule for SEA Games 33, which is expected to take place starting December 10.

Gunma Green Wings have two important matches in the Japanese V.League on December 6 and 7 against Himeji Victorina, meaning they can likely only allow Thanh Thúy to return to Vietnam from December 8. This implies Thanh Thúy will have merely two days to train and readjust with the team before beginning the quest to upgrade their medal standing.

This will impact Coach Tuấn Kiệt’s training and preparation plans for the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team ahead of the 2025 SEA Games.

According to Webthethao (Vietnam Volleyball), the Vietnam Volleyball Federation is currently rushing negotiations with Gunma to secure the most favorable conditions for the 28-year-old outside hitter.

Thanh Thúy is not only a core player in terms of skills but also serves as the team’s emotional leader, fostering unity among teammates on the court. This year, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team aims to clinch the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games, making Thanh Thúy a crucial figure in this Southeast Asian sports competition at year’s end.

Moreover, Bình Điền Long An—the current runner-up of the national league and recent second place in the 2025 AVC Champions League—has qualified for the 2025 Women’s Club World Championship in December. However, it is almost certain that Thanh Thúy will not take part in this tournament with the club due to her commitments with the national team.
