Michal Kubiak, who was once honored as the best outside hitter at the World Championship, will return to Vietnam to play.
The Polish foreign player Michal Kubiak will continue to represent the Ho Chi Minh City Police men's volleyball team in the second phase of the 2025 National Championship, which begins on October 7. In the first phase, Kubiak helped the team secure 5 wins and participate in the 2025 Hung Vuong Cup but was absent from the final as he returned to China to compete.
Kubiak (born in 1988) is a former Polish national player, standing 1.92 meters tall, playing as an outside hitter, and has won numerous international awards. He started his professional career in 2002 and has played for various clubs in Poland, Israel, Italy, Turkey, Japan, China, and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City Police Club). He has achieved many club-level honors, including the Turkish Cup (2015), Japanese championships (2018, 2019), the Emperor’s Cup in Japan (2017), and a silver medal at the World Club Championship (2011).
Kubiak returns to play in Vietnam
At the national team level, Kubiak has won the FIVB World Championship twice with Poland, in 2014 and 2018. Particularly in 2018, he was named the Best Outside Hitter. In 2021, Kubiak was again recognized as the Best Outside Hitter at the FIVB Nations League.
Ho Chi Minh City Police currently leads the standings, aiming to reach the finals and claim the championship. The roster also includes several national team players such as Che Quoc Lo Vit, Quan Trong Nghia, Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Pham Quoc Du, along with the experienced setter Giang Van Duc (on loan from LPBank Ninh Binh). The team will travel to Ninh Binh on September 29, where they previously took part in the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup earlier this year.
