The second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship is seeing a surge of players arriving from various European nations.
The Geleximco Hung Yen women's volleyball team (formerly known as Thai Binh) will add foreign player Helena Grozer to strengthen their squad for phase 2 of the 2025 National Championship.
According to coach Tran Van Giap, recruiting Helena Grozer is essential as the team faces significant challenges in terms of performance. After phase 1, Hung Yen has only one win and four losses, ranking 7th on the leaderboard. Their immediate goal is to improve their standing to avoid relegation and maintain their position in Vietnam's top volleyball league.
Helena Grozer is expected to make a significant impact for Hung Yen. Standing 1.90 meters tall, with an attack jump reach of 3.20 meters and a block jump reach of 3.08 meters, she brings a clear advantage in crucial moments. She will arrive in Vietnam on September 28 to join the team and begin training with her teammates promptly.
In phase 2, Hung Yen will face Thong Tin - Dong Bac and Vietinbank. These are all traditional strong teams, requiring coach Tran Van Giap and his squad to prepare thoroughly. Currently, the entire team continues to train locally before moving to Ninh Binh in early October.
Previously, in phase 1, Hung Yen used foreign player Edina Begic. However, she will not continue in the upcoming phase, forcing the coaching staff to quickly find a replacement. The arrival of Helena Grozer is considered the solution to the team’s strength issues, bringing new hope to a club that once won the national championship in 2022 but declined in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
