Da Nang Volleyball Changes Foreign Player, Places Trust in SEA Games Champion

The Da Nang men's volleyball team will feature a skilled foreign player for the latter part of the National Championship this year.

Da Nang men's volleyball team will replace their foreign player in the second phase of the 2025 National Men's Volleyball Championship, starting in early October in Ninh Binh.

Initially, the team had arranged to bring back the Thai foreign player Kittithad Nuwaddee—who played impressively for the club in the first phase. However, due to personal commitments in his home country preventing him from coming to Vietnam as planned, Da Nang had to find an alternative.

The "Han River Team" selected Agil Anggara, a spiker from Indonesia, as their new foreign player. Born in 2000, he plays as an outside hitter, stands 1.94 meters tall, with a spike reach of 3.40 meters and a block reach of 3.37 meters, and is right-handed.

Anggara is a familiar face on the Indonesian men's national volleyball team, having won gold medals at the SEA Games in 2019 and 2023, as well as the SEA V.League title this year. At the club level, the 25-year-old plays for Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi—a strong Indonesian club that won the national championship twice consecutively and reached the top 3 in the 2024 Asian Club Championship.

This is Agil Anggara’s first time playing abroad, but his experience in major tournaments will be crucial for Da Nang in the remaining season. The Central Vietnam team is currently in the top 4 after five matches with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses, though head coach Tran Viet Cuong’s main goal is likely to avoid relegation before aiming higher.

Therefore, in the upcoming second phase of the National Championship, fans will see two Indonesian players competing: Agil Anggara and Rivan Nurmulki, who plays for The Cong Tan Cang.
