Bích Tuyền will not take part in the second phase of the 2025 Vietnam National Volleyball Championship.
The Ninh Bình women's volleyball team is almost certain not to include main attacker Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền in the official list of 14 players for the second phase of the 2025 National Championship, according to SGGP newspaper.
Instead of competing, Bích Tuyền will act as an assistant coach. The primary reason is a recurring abdominal muscle injury that has prevented her from reaching peak fitness. In the first phase last April, Bích Tuyền played in all 5 matches, contributing to Ninh Bình’s undefeated record and their current lead in the women's standings.
Bích Tuyền will not play in the second phase of the 2025 National Championship.
The second phase begins on October 7, with Ninh Bình scheduled to face Binh Thong Tin and Ho Chi Minh City, two key matches for advancing. Bích Tuyền’s absence has caused fans to worry about her chances of being recalled to the national team for preparation for the 2025 SEA Games.
This year, Bích Tuyền attracted attention by helping the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win the second leg of the SEA V.League 2025. However, she later declined to participate in the 2025 Volleyball World Championship held in Thailand.
On the evening of August 19, on her personal social media, Bích Tuyền thanked her fans and reminisced about the memorable moment when the Vietnamese team defeated Thailand to win the second round of the SEA V.League.
She stated that her decision to withdraw was not due to losing motivation to compete, but because of new rules set by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
According to Bích Tuyền, these requirements lack transparency and fairness towards athletes and go against the spirit of respect in sports.
