Vietnam’s 17-year-old volleyball rising star, nearly 1.9 meters tall, receives a significant decision after consecutive championships

Pham Quynh Huong, a rising star in Vietnamese women’s volleyball, will take part in the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.

Pham Quynh Huong has been registered to compete in the National Championship.

The women’s volleyball team of Binh Thong Tin – Binh Doan 19 has recently announced a list of 14 players for the second phase of the 2025 National Championship in Ninh Binh. Many young talents just returned from the U21 World Championship, such as Quynh Huong, Bich Hue, and Khanh Huyen, are included, while veteran mainstays like Linh Chi and My Hang are absent.

Significantly, Russian foreign player Irina Voronkova is expected to make a difference. Meanwhile, 17-year-old opposite hitter Pham Quynh Huong, who is 1.87 meters tall, is emerging as the brightest young talent in Vietnamese volleyball.

Pham Quynh Huong will participate in the second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship representing Binh Thong Tin.

In 2025, Quynh Huong consecutively won three youth championships and earned the best hitter award at both the National Youth Championship and the National Youth Club Cup. At the U21 World Championship, she scored 52 points, becoming the most effective hitter on the Vietnam U21 team.

After appointing coach Pham Van Long earlier this year, the Binh Thong Tin team aims to reach the finals. In the second phase group stage, they will face LPBank Ninh Binh and Hung Yen. The last time the soldier team won the national championship was in 2021, and this year, combining Lam Oanh’s experience with the youth of Quynh Huong, Bich Hue, and Khanh Huyen, they are determined to repeat their success.

The second phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will be held in Ninh Binh from October 7 to 16, featuring 16 teams (8 men’s and 8 women’s). Teams will complete the group stage from October 7 to 10, selecting 4 men’s and 4 women’s teams for the semifinals (October 12-13). The men’s final will take place on October 15, the women’s final on October 16, while the other teams will compete for relegation spots.

After phase 1, LPB Ninh Binh leads the women’s table with 14 points, followed by VTV Binh Dien Long An (12), Binh Thong Tin and Vietinbank (both 9), Hoa Chat Duc Giang and Xi Mang Long Son Thanh Hoa (both 5), Hung Yen (6), and Ho Chi Minh City (0).
