The star attacker chosen to replace Trần Thị Thanh Thúy has officially joined the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, prepared for the key tournament.

Outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry officially joins VTV Bình Điền Long An.

The VTV Bình Điền Long An women's volleyball team has officially welcomed a quality foreign player for the second phase of the 2025 National Championship. Late on September 30th, American outside hitter Roni Jones-Perry arrived in Vietnam and immediately traveled with the team to Ninh Bình to prepare for the upcoming important matches.

Jones-Perry’s inclusion is seen as a valuable reinforcement for the reigning national champions. Born in 1997, she previously performed impressively for LOVB Salt Lake in the American professional volleyball league and is regarded as a versatile athlete with strong attacking abilities and effective defensive support.

Roni Jones-Perry is the direct replacement for Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, as the top player of VTV Bình Điền Long An has moved to Japan to play for Gunma Green Wings in the 2025-2026 national league season.

With her arrival, VTV Bình Điền Long An’s offensive strength is expected to improve considerably, while increasing squad depth as the season enters a critical stage.

The coaching staff of VTV Bình Điền Long An stated the team only registered one foreign player for phase two. The contract details were not revealed, but this is definitely a calculated investment to help coach Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Hoa’s team maintain a competitive advantage in the championship race.

Currently, the team from the Mekong Delta region ranks second with 4 wins and 1 loss after the first phase. With this reinforcement, they continue to be considered top contenders for this year’s championship.

The second phase of the 2025 National Championship will also feature two American foreign players in the women's category: Roni Jones-Perry (VTV Bình Điền Long An) and Leah Hardeman (Thanh Hóa). Both have arrived in Vietnam, ready to deliver high-quality performances, promising to make the tournament more exciting.

According to the Vietnam Volleyball Federation’s rules, the deadline for all 16 teams to complete foreign player registration for phase two is October 6th. This date also marks the technical meeting before the tournament officially begins. Phase two will be held in Ninh Bình from October 7th to 16th, promising many intense matches as strong teams strengthen their rosters aiming for the highest goals.

As reigning champions, Roni Jones-Perry’s arrival not only strengthens VTV Bình Điền Long An but also adds a highlight to the tournament, giving Vietnamese fans the chance to watch quality foreign players demonstrate their skills on the home court.
