Former national women's volleyball player makes a comeback at the age of 41
She will hold the record as the oldest player competing in phase two of the 2025 National Women's Volleyball Championship.
Former Vietnamese national team setter Hà Thị Hoa will return to play for VietinBank in the second phase of the 2025 National Women's Volleyball Championship, which starts next week in Ninh Bình.
It is known that due to the backup setter of VietinBank facing health issues before phase two began, coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt had to make adjustments, choosing Hà Thị Hoa to mark her return after a year away from professional volleyball competitions in Vietnam.
The main setter for Công Thương Bank in the upcoming matches will still be Tôn Thị Minh Thư, who made a strong impression in phase one.
Born in 1984, Hà Thị Hoa was once one of Vietnam’s top female volleyball setters. She debuted professionally with the Information Command team (now Thông tin - BĐ19), then quickly transferred to VietinBank, significantly contributing to the bank team’s long-term success: national champions in 2016; four Hùng Vương Cup titles (2006, 2012, 2016, 2017), among others.
At the national team level, Hà Thị Hoa was part of the Vietnamese women’s volleyball squad that won silver medals at five consecutive SEA Games (from SEA Games 23 to SEA Games 27).
The last season Hà Thị Hoa was registered on VietinBank's roster for the National Championship was in 2023. Now, although no longer as agile as before due to age, she will still provide valuable experience to the young VietinBank players in the upcoming second phase.
During phase two of the 2025 National Championship, VietinBank will face Geleximco Hưng Yên and XMLS Thanh Hóa consecutively. This schedule is favorable for coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt’s team to maintain a top 4 position and secure a spot in the championship playoff.
