She started volleyball at 16, later than many of her peers, but Hà Thị Hoa had an extremely enduring career. She began playing volleyball in 2000 and only stopped in 2022, ending more than 20 years of a highly successful career.
During her peak years, Hà Thị Hoa was regarded as a setter with outstanding ability to "fix" poor passes. She could turn a teammate's flawed first touch into a favorable set for the team's hitters to score.
