Both Vietnamese volleyball teams have yet to secure a training venue for SEA Games 33.

Vietnamese volleyball is encountering difficulties in locating a foreign training site ahead of SEA Games 33 in Thailand.

On October 2nd, Mr. Lê Trí Trường, Secretary General of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, stated that a specific training venue for both the men’s and women’s teams has not yet been finalized. The chosen location must ensure the highest level of professional effectiveness; otherwise, the teams may continue training domestically until departure.

The women’s team plans to train in Japan during the second phase but faces obstacles due to the Japanese National Championship taking place in October and November, making it difficult to find suitable opponents for practice matches.

Training without friendly matches limits tactical and technical improvement. Similarly, the men’s team wants to train in China but is hindered by the timing of China’s National Sports Games.

In early 2025, the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team trained in Quảng Ninh before rotating through locations like Vĩnh Yên (Phú Thọ), Đông Anh (Hà Nội), and Tam Đảo (Phú Thọ).

The men’s team also trained in Đà Nẵng before moving to Hà Nội to meet tactical demands. Both teams completed their first training phase and are now on a break as players return to compete in the second phase of the National Championship, expected to conclude on October 16th.

Mr. Lê Trí Trường mentioned that after the championship ends, both teams will resume training from late October. Preparation plans will be developed by each team’s coaching staff to ensure professional quality. The federation will coordinate to optimize training for the goal of winning medals at SEA Games 33.

Notably, Australian fitness expert Karl Lim is expected to rejoin the women’s team during the second training phase. His involvement is anticipated to enhance players’ physical condition to meet the intense demands of the upcoming regional competition.
