MB Border Guard defeated their biggest rival, demonstrating superior strength at the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.

The most awaited men's match of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship between MB Border Guard and Ho Chi Minh City Police ended decisively in three sets, with a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-17, 25-23) favoring Coach Tran Dinh Tien’s squad.

MB Border Guard defeated Ho Chi Minh City Police, completing an undefeated run in the 2025 National Championship.

The victory over Ho Chi Minh City Police not only affirmed MB Border Guard’s dominant strength but also allowed them to finish the round-robin phase with a flawless 7-0 record.

In contrast to the intense 5-set chase in the Hung Vuong Cup final in April, where MB Border Guard barely overcame their opponent, this rematch was dominated clearly by one side.

MB Border Guard started confidently with a well-balanced lineup, solid blocking, and powerful serves. Their cohesive play, based on a high-quality domestic roster including Van Hiep, Ngoc Thuan, Duy Tuyen, and Truong The Khai, helped them gain early dominance in the first two sets.

For Ho Chi Minh City Police, the early injury of foreign player Kubiak disrupted their strategy. Despite main attacker Quoc Duy’s determined effort, he was nearly isolated in scoring as teammates—especially the Serbian foreign player—failed to make significant contributions.

After two quick set losses, Coach Doan Minh Dung’s team rallied strongly in the third set, creating a competitive battle with MB Border Guard. However, at crucial points, the military team demonstrated their champion’s quality and resilience to close the match with a 25-23 victory.

With a convincing 3-0 win, MB Border Guard officially secured the top spot with a perfect 7-0 record, continuing to assert their status as Vietnam’s number one men’s volleyball team.

Meanwhile, although Ho Chi Minh City Police suffered defeat, they still advanced to the semifinals, where they will face The Cong Tan Cang. MB Border Guard will play against the fourth-placed team, which will be determined after the match between host LPBank Ninh Binh and Lavia Tay Ninh.
