Middle blocker Trần Thị Bích Thủy is set to move to Japan to play for Okayama Seagulls once she finishes the second stage of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship held in Ninh Bình.
According to the plan, after the national championship concludes on October 16, Bích Thủy will depart for Japan to join her new team, Okayama Seagulls, officially becoming the second Vietnamese player to compete in this season’s V.League alongside Trần Thị Thanh Thúy, the star of Gunma Green Wings club.
The Okayama Seagulls kicked off their 2025 season on October 10 and quickly drew attention by signing a Southeast Asian foreign player. Sources from the Japanese volleyball community reveal that the club highly values Bích Thủy’s quick attacking skills and blocking reflexes—qualities that fit well with the modern volleyball style in the V.League.
Bích Thủy is currently regarded as one of the top middle blockers in Vietnamese women’s volleyball, known for her decisive, agile play and impressive vertical leap. She received numerous praises from international coaches during the 2025 World Championship in Thailand, where Vietnam surprised many by advancing deep into the tournament.
Earlier this year, the player born in 2001 had a stint playing in South Korea. However, during the try-out period before the new season, she was not signed by any team in the KOVO League. Nevertheless, her consistent performance and professional attitude caught the attention of Okayama Seagulls.
Initial reports indicate that the contract between Bích Thủy and Okayama Seagulls lasts for one season, with an extension option based on her performance with the Japanese club. The team representatives reportedly appreciate her dedication and ambition to grow, as she continues to mature through years of domestic and international competition.
