Bien Phong reaches the national volleyball championship final for the third consecutive year

(Volleyball results) - Bien Phong confirmed their dominance over LPB Ninh Binh, achieving a third straight appearance in the national volleyball championship final.

Set 1: Bien Phong 25-19 Ninh Binh

Bien Phong had an impressive start in the first semifinal set against LPB Ninh Binh as their attackers performed effectively against the opponent’s tall blockers. Meanwhile, Ninh Binh underperformed and will need to improve significantly to surprise the defending champions.

Set 2: Bien Phong 23-25 Ninh Binh

LPB Ninh Binh made a strong comeback in the second set. Cuban foreign player Yaisel Punales played excellently with high reach and powerful spikes, while the home team’s blockers, especially 2m tall middle blocker Cu Van Hoan, were effective. Bien Phong faltered, prompting coach Tran Dinh Tien to make a bold move by substituting playmaker Dinh Van Duy with Bui Huu Dat.

This change proved effective as Bien Phong steadily scored points, narrowing the gap to just 2 points near the end of the set. However, it wasn’t enough for the team to complete a comeback, leveling the match at 1-1.

Set 3: Bien Phong 25-19 Ninh Binh

Dinh Van Duy returned at the start of the third set, and the break in the latter half of set two helped him regain his best form and mindset. His sensible distribution as the setter from Dong Anh helped Bien Phong start well in this set.

LPB Ninh Binh later equalized with a serve from Cu Van Hoan, but Bien Phong’s attackers Ngoc Thuan, Duy Tuyen, and Van Hiep played consistently well to pull ahead again, taking the match score to 2-1.

Set 4: Bien Phong 25-20 Ninh Binh

The fourth set was highly competitive and intense in the early points. LPB Ninh Binh shone through their Cuban foreign player and effective back-row 3-3 plays, with coach Bui Trung Thao’s squad nearly taking the lead if not for missed chances.

This may have been the key difference, as Bien Phong capitalized fully on opportunities and Ninh Binh’s errors. Two consecutive spikes by Ngoc Thuan pushed the team ahead, extending the lead and securing victory, making Bien Phong the first men’s team to reach this year’s national championship final.

Final result, Bien Phong defeated LPB Ninh Binh 3-1 (25-19; 23-25; 25-19; 25-20).
