Trần Thị Thanh Thúy began the new season with a strong performance, significantly contributing to Gunma Green Wings' 3-1 victory over Queenseis Kariya at the 2025-2026 Japan SV.League volleyball competition.
The 2025-2026 season of Japan's National Volleyball Championship (SV.League) officially kicked off, marking a promising new journey for the top teams in the Land of the Rising Sun.
In the opening matches, Gunma Green Wings had a successful start by winning 3-1 against Queenseis Kariya, with outstanding contributions from opposite hitter Trần Thị Thanh Thúy.
The match was intense right from the first rallies. Gunma Green Wings started slowly and lost the first set 29-31 after a thrilling point chase. However, in the following sets, the blue-shirted team gradually regained their rhythm, effectively utilizing the diverse attacking skills of the trio Thanh Thúy – Rozanski – Dimitrova, winning the next three sets 25-19, 27-25, and 25-21, concluding the match with full joy.
In the opening game, Thanh Thúy was once again trusted by the head coach to play as the main opposite hitter, where she showed consistent form and excellent coordination with her teammates. Her powerful attacks, along with strong blocking and defensive support, made Thanh Thúy one of the key players securing the victory for Gunma.
Entering her second season playing in Japan, the Vietnamese national player increasingly asserts her position in the main lineup. She is not only an attacking cornerstone but also helps maintain balance in Gunma Green Wings’ playing style — a team highly regarded for its fighting spirit and well-coordinated teamwork.
The win over Queenseis Kariya not only earned Gunma their first three points but also provided an important morale boost for the whole team ahead of the challenging matches to come.
The two teams will face each other again tomorrow, October 13th, at 11:05 AM (Vietnam time).
