Trần Thị Thanh Thúy reaffirmed her elite status as the highest scorer for Gunma Green Wings in their defeat to Queenseis Kariya.
Today (October 13), Gunma Green Wings lost 1-3 to Queenseis Kariya (25-21, 15-25, 18-25, 22-25) in their rematch at the Japanese SV League. Thanh Thúy shone with 20 points — the top scorer for Gunma Green Wings.
Following an impressive opening victory, Gunma Green Wings started the match enthusiastically and quickly took a 1-0 lead thanks to Thanh Thúy’s excellent form, scoring 5 points in the first set with her versatile attacks and effective blocks. However, from the second set onward, Queenseis Kariya adjusted their strategy and dominated with standout performances from Kuznetsova, Cuttino, and Shigihara.
Gunma Green Wings showed inefficiency, particularly in blocking and defensive organization. Although Thanh Thúy maintained steady performance, the other two foreign players, Olivia Rozanski and Nasya Dimitrova, underperformed, preventing the team from making breakthroughs.

The 1-3 defeat caused Gunma Green Wings to miss out on a second consecutive win, while Queenseis Kariya successfully avenged their opening day loss.
In this match for Gunma Green Wings, Thanh Thúy continued to serve as the leading attacker with the team’s most impressive performance. She scored a total of 20 points, including 19 attack points and 1 ace from a serve. Her attack efficiency reached 45.24%, the highest on the team, and hit 50% on attacks from behind the 3-meter line. This highlights Thanh Thúy’s comprehensive scoring ability, both on wing attacks and counterattacks.
Meanwhile, the other two foreign players, Olivia Rozanski and Nasya Dimitrova, performed below expectations. Rozanski scored 13 points (12 attacks, 1 ace) but only achieved a 33.33% attack efficiency, significantly lower than Thanh Thúy. She struggled against the opponent’s blocks and failed to make an impact with her serves. Dimitrova scored 10 points (8 attacks, 2 blocks) with a 40% efficiency.
Among the domestic players, Niida was a bright spot with the highest attack efficiency on the team at 60%, scoring 12 points. Besides steady attacking, Niida also contributed well in defense and first-ball passing, achieving 34.3% efficiency, helping the team maintain balance in their gameplay.
However, the statistics indicate that Gunma still has many weaknesses. Their blocking was ineffective, with a low point rate from blocks (Dimitrova only 6.8%, Thanh Thúy 17.9%), causing the team to lose advantage in one-on-one net confrontations. Serving was also not a strong weapon, as the team made numerous errors and had an average efficiency of only about 15%.
Overall, Gunma relies heavily on their main attacking duo, Thanh Thúy and Niida. Both are the primary scorers helping the team maintain competitiveness. However, to progress further, Gunma needs to improve blocking, reduce serving errors, and diversify middle attack options to ease the pressure on their main hitters. Within the team framework, Thanh Thúy remains the most outstanding and consistent player, confirming her star status in Japan.
