The fight to avoid relegation in the men's division of this year's National Volleyball Championship has now been settled.
Lavie Tây Ninh (formerly Lavie Long An) has become the first team to be relegated from the 2025 National Volleyball Championship following today's matches on October 13th.
The Southern representative had no control over their fate because in the relegation group match between Hanoi and Da Nang this afternoon, the capital’s team impressively won 3-0. Currently, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Sanest Khánh Hòa all share the same record of 3 wins and 2 losses, which is two wins more than Lavie Tây Ninh, while only one round remains in the relegation phase. Coach Phạm Phước Tiến’s team will have to compete in the national A league next season.
Lavie Tây Ninh made a strong impression last season with their dynamic and attractive style of play. The team successfully avoided relegation thanks to standout players such as Lê Văn Thành, Phạm Thoại Khương, Vũ Quang Khơi, Võ Minh Hòa, and the Cambodian foreign player Kuon Mom, among others.
However, four out of the five players mentioned above no longer wear the Lavie Tây Ninh jersey this season, and Coach Phạm Phước Tiến faces personnel challenges. Some players like Nguyễn Anh Hồng Hoàng and Phạm Văn Chung performed well, but it was not enough. The Southern team only secured one victory in the group stage and got caught up in the relegation battle once again.
Lavie Tây Ninh fought hard in the two matches played but failed to enjoy a win, most notably losing 2-3 in a comeback defeat against Da Nang. Meanwhile, Hanoi—the direct competitor—showed much better form with two straight wins over Sanest Khánh Hòa and Da Nang.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, the fight to remain in the top tier of Vietnamese professional volleyball is very exciting, featuring TPHCM and Geleximco Thái Bình. TPHCM was at a disadvantage entering the relegation round, but a valuable victory over XMLS Thanh Hóa has rekindled hope for Coach Trần Hiền’s team. The winner of this matchup will continue to participate in the National Championship in the 2026 season.
