American outside hitter Julia Sangiacomo has joined the Quang Ninh women's volleyball team, expected to enhance their attacking power before the 2025 National A Volleyball Championship finals.
The Quang Ninh women's volleyball team has recruited American outside hitter Julia Sangiacomo in preparation for the 2025 National A Volleyball Championship finals, scheduled to take place in Ha Tinh starting October 23.
This addition is anticipated to strengthen the mining region team’s offense, aiming to compete for promotion to the National Championship next year.
Julia Sangiacomo previously played in the 2024-2025 Indonesian Women's Volleyball League for Petrokimia Gresik, the same team that Tran Thi Thanh Thuy represented earlier this year. After Thanh Thuy returned to Vietnam for the National Championship, Sangiacomo was chosen by Petrokimia as her replacement and quickly shined, earning the title of “Best Outside Hitter of the tournament.”
Before coming to Vietnam, the 25-year-old athlete played for LOVB Atlanta, one of the top teams in the American professional volleyball league. Standing 1.96 meters tall with a long reach and impressive vertical leap, Julia is expected to bring significant impact to Quang Ninh’s offense, especially in wing attacks and blocking.
Currently, Quang Ninh is training in Ninh Binh to refine their tactics. The roster features two notable players, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Le Thi Yen, who recently competed in the 2025 National Championship representing the Bank of Industry and Trade and Duc Giang Chemical Lao Cai teams, respectively.
It is noted that the 2025 National A Volleyball Championship finals will gather many teams heavily investing in their rosters. So far, four teams have strengthened their squads with foreign players, including Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hanoi (women's), and Ha Tinh (men's).
