A blockbuster emerges at the 2026 National Volleyball Championship

Another top-tier foreign player joins the highest-level professional volleyball tournament in Vietnam.

The foreign player transfer market ahead of Stage 1 of the 2026 National Volleyball Championship continues to be lively as Sanest Khanh Hoa officially announces a contract with American attacker Garrett Muagututia. This is considered one of the most notable blockbuster deals before the new season kicks off.

Garrett Muagututia is not an unfamiliar name to international volleyball fans. The attacker, born in 1988, possesses a height of 1.96m along with extremely impressive jumping and blocking abilities, respectively 3.59m and 3.45m. With excellent physical attributes and extensive experience, Muagututia is expected to bring a breakthrough to the coastal team's offensive line.

Throughout his career, the American hitter has competed in many top national championships across Europe, such as Turkey, Italy, and Greece. Years of playing in high-level tournaments have helped the 1988-born hitter refine a comprehensive playing style, from attacking and defending to performing under pressure in crucial matches.

Besides his club career, Muagututia has also spent many years representing the US Men's Volleyball Team. He has participated in major events of the global volleyball community, such as the World Cup, VNL, etc. Notably, at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 38-year-old attacker and the "Stars and Stripes" team secured a bronze medal, affirming his position in the lineup of one of the world's strongest national teams.

The arrival of the American attacker is expected to significantly enhance Sanest Khanh Hoa's offensive power for this season. Under the guidance of coach Ngo Van Kieu, the coastal team aims for a successful performance in Stage 1 of this year's National Championship.

At Khanh Hoa, Muagututia will team up with many young teammates of the squad, as the biggest stars like Duong Van Tien, Nguyen Phuc Loc, Huynh Trung Truc have all departed to join Ho Chi Minh City Police.
