The Vietnamese volleyball team will not participate in the important tournament in 2026.

The Vietnamese volleyball team will not compete in the significant event this year. This marks a noticeable shift from previous years.

According to SGGP newspaper, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will not appear at the Asian Club Championship – AVC Champions League 2026. This is a significant change from previous years, when teams in the region were typically granted participation slots through registration by their national federation and approval by the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

However, moving into the 2026 season, the tournament's organizational structure underwent important adjustments. Under the new format, teams wishing to participate in the AVC Champions League finals must pass through regional qualifying rounds. These qualifiers have been implemented since February to determine the worthy representatives from each region for the finals.

Tuyển bóng chuyền nam Việt Nam sẽ không góp mặt tại giải vô địch các CLB châu Á – AVC Champions League 2026

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team will not be present at the Asian Club Championship – AVC Champions League 2026.

In Vietnam, the team that won the national men's volleyball championship last year was Border Guard MB. By convention, the national champion represents Vietnam in the AVC Champions League 2026 qualifiers. However, Border Guard MB did not register for the qualifiers. Given this situation, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation considered sending the national men's volleyball team to take this slot.

Nevertheless, this plan could not be implemented. The reason is that the Vietnamese men's volleyball team did not hold a training camp in February – the time when the regional qualifiers took place. The failure to prepare the squad and participate in the qualifiers means the opportunity for the Vietnamese men's volleyball team to secure a spot in the AVC Champions League 2026 has officially closed.

According to the organizer's allocation, the Southeast Asia region has only two slots for this year's tournament, reserved for representatives from Thailand and Indonesia. The AVC Champions League 2026 finals are scheduled to be held in Indonesia from May 13 to 17, gathering the continent's strongest clubs after passing the regional qualifiers.

Not only absent from the club-level tournament, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team is also not included in the list of teams participating in the Asian Championship 2026 recently announced by the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

In this context, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team's 2026 will focus on two important international tasks: the SEA V.League and the Asian Games 2026. These are considered crucial arenas for the team to continue accumulating experience and enhancing the standing of Vietnamese volleyball in the region.

In the coming period, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation will consider an appropriate time to propose a plan for assembling and training the men's team to the sports management agency, aiming to prepare optimally for international objectives this year.
