'Explosive Box' Tu Thanh Thuan finds a new home for the 2026 season.

Volleyball star Tu Thanh Thuan bids farewell to The Cong Tan Cang. to join the newcomer Ho Chi Minh City team for the 2026 National Volleyball Championship season.

After the 2025 season concluded, there were many speculations about Thanh Thuan's next destination. However, the former national team player decided to sign with the Ho Chi Minh City men's team, marking a new chapter in the career of this beloved and highly popular attacker.

Even at 34 years old, Thanh Thuan remains a crucial factor due to his competitive experience and professional training spirit. These elements are expected to elevate the newcomer team in this year's National Championship, aiming for the immediate goal of securing a spot in the league.

During his peak performance period, Tu Thanh Thuan achieved many domestic titles while playing for Vinh Long and Sanest Khanh Hoa. At the national team level, he was also the main offensive force for the Vietnamese men's volleyball team for many years.

The attacker born in 1992 participated in two SEA Games 28 finals in Singapore in 2015 and SEA Games 31 held in Vietnam in 2022. Although he could not stand on the highest podium, these remain memorable milestones in his career with the national team.

After parting with Sanest Khanh Hoa at the end of the 2024 season, Thanh Thuan moved to play for The Cong Tan Cang. In the past season, the "Explosive Box" and the military-uniformed team secured the runner-up position, only losing to Border Guard - a current powerhouse in Vietnamese men's volleyball - in the final.

Before entering Stage 1 of the National Championship in Dong Anh, Hanoi in April, Ho Chi Minh City Club will participate in the Hoa Lu - Binh Dien Cup 2026 held in Ninh Binh from March 18 to March 23 to help players achieve the best competitive feeling.

Besides Tu Thanh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City also has two other important additions with the presence of "old acquaintances": Pham Thoai Khuong and Che Quoc Vo Lit, with Thoai Khuong trusted to hold the captain role. Conversely, Tran Hoai Phuong - the setter who contributed greatly to help the team named Bac win the 2025 A-grade championship. has moved to join the club of the same city: Ho Chi Minh City Police.
