The replacements for Nguyễn Văn Quốc Duy in the national men's volleyball squad are Dương Văn Tiên and Đinh Văn Phương.
The new head coach of the Vietnam men's volleyball team, Mr. Federico Rampazzo, has provided explanations regarding the exclusion of setter Nguyễn Văn Quốc Duy from the ongoing training camp at the National High-Performance Athlete Training Center.
"When I announced the national team call-up list, I knew that Quốc Duy was not in his best physical condition. I had been watching him and was impressed, but during the short training period I realized Quốc Duy could hardly compete, so I let him leave the team to focus on recovery. I feel sorry and hope he will recover quickly from his injury.", Mr. Rampazzo shared withVietnam Volleyball.
Earlier, more than a week ago, Nguyễn Văn Quốc Duy was confirmed to not continue participating in the first training session with the Vietnam men's volleyball team. This is quite surprising because Quốc Duy is the country's top setter, and also a player with a huge fan base thanks to his explosive playing style and top-notch attacking serve.
Replacing the former setter from Trà Vinh in the national team are Dương Văn Tiên and Đinh Văn Phương. With this change, the squad now has a total of 19 players training at the National High-Performance Athlete Training Center.
Previously, the initial call-up list consisted of 18 players spread across various positions, including experienced players such as Đinh Văn Duy, Nguyễn Ngọc Thuân, Trần Duy Tuyến, Trương Thế Khải, Trịnh Duy Phúc, etc., alongside new names like Trần Hoài Phương, Lý Văn Chường, Đào Xuân Việt. The addition of two new players is expected to increase internal competition and provide the coaching staff with more options during the process of finalizing the squad.
