Leg 1 of the women's SEA V.Cup 2026 officially kicks off at the Dong Anh Sports Hall in Hanoi, featuring four teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The teams will play a round-robin format, and the team with the most points will claim the leg championship.

The opening match at 4:00 PM is a showdown between Indonesia and Thailand. Although Thailand did not bring their full strongest squad to Vietnam, the team from the Land of Smiles is still highly regarded due to their depth of roster and superior technical foundation in the region. Therefore, Indonesia must show consistency in the first step if they want to create an upset.

The highlight of the day is the clash between Vietnam and the Philippines at 7:00 PM. With home-court advantage and a seasoned core lineup, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's squad aims for a win in the opener before facing Indonesia and Thailand in the following two days.

Vietnam is under high expectations after defeating Thailand to win a leg of the SEA V.Cup for the first time in the 2025 season. However, Thanh Thuy and her teammates must maintain focus against the Philippines, an opponent with many young, athletic players who are steadily improving their game quality.

Meanwhile, the 2026 men's VNL finals are taking a break on July 31. The two semifinal matches—Slovenia vs Poland and Japan vs USA—will take place on August 1 in Ningbo, China.
